15 Apr

Hi Everyone,

Here is the video flyer for our Jumpers FUN-raising extravaganza next Thursday:

In case you’re wondering, yes he was doing that voice on purpose.

Come along next Thursday OR drop off some nice craft donations at the Alley Cafe any time between now and then. You’ll make us and some really sweet boys in Peru very happy.

Thanks!

Craft Creation

27 Oct

Here’s a delightful little number from Jumpers Past. A wonderful addition to The Gallery:

A craft creation made at Jumpers For Goalposts

Put together back in the heady days of Jul 2009. Lord knows what brief these crafters were fulfilling, but look at the wonder they’ve created. Beautiful. If you’d like to create something similarly bizarre/disturbing/blasphemous then join us on the 3rd Thursday of the month and get busy with the googly eyes and glue.

OCTOBER JUMPERS FOR GOALPOSTS – CECILLE GREY

HELLO!

Thursday, 21st October is JUMPERS FOR GOALPOSTS night at the Alley Café!

October is, of course, SHOCKTOBER, therefore our regular CRAFT COMPETITION will have a ghoulish edge to start the Halloween fun early.

We will set you a Craft Challenge and we’ll provide all of the paper, glue, tape, googlie eyes etc and you can set the dark side of your imaginations to create something that could win you MEGA PRIZES™©®

To soothe the TERROR of tables of people creating masterpieces out of children’s craft supplies while eating, drinking and chatting, getting too much, we have the excellent Cecille Grey to calm your frantic nerves.  Cecille Grey are sometimes two people, sometimes many more but always beautifully calming folk-tinged songs.  Be nice to them as they will be judging the Craft Competition at the end of the night.

The fun starts about nine but it may be a big one this month, so arrive early go grab a table, in fact treat yourself to a veggie sausage sandwich for your Dinner and wash it down with a strawberry lassie before it all starts.

The Great Jumpers For Goalposts Giraffeting Competition, with Live Music From Nick Jonah Davis

Every month at Jumpers for Goalposts we hold a crafting competition where we provide a craft-buffet of paper, pens, googly eyes and all manner of brightly coloured materials aimed at appealing to 3-7 year olds.

The competition is often very fierce and we use an independent judge (the performer of the night) so that when someone makes a costume, Tony Sourgrapes can’t come up to us with his pointy aggressive body language saying ‘you said in the instructions to make a ‘thing’ dressing up isn’t a ‘thing’! [really happened].

This month we craft local……..

                                                                                           ……..…but think Global!

We’re sticking our ‘necks’ out and joining in with http://www.onemilliongiraffes.com/ to help them collect ONE MILLION pictures of giraffes.  Who knows why? They hardly seem to, but they’re going to need a LOT of blu-tac!

They have about 150 days left to do it and as long as 65,000 people come to Jumpers for Goalposts – They’ll be able to kick back and relax with it in the bag!

So, come along, bring any CHEATING supplies you like, orange wool, yellow material, natural growing bamboo canes, as long as it doesn’t originate from an actual living giraffe it’s all good!

As ever, there will be MEGA PRIZES ™ for the best ‘Giraffeters’ and you’ll get to join the hall of fame on this gradually emerging blog, as well as having all your entries submitted to the One Million Giraffes website.

That’s NOT ALL! We’ll also have LIVE IN CONCERT Music from Nick Jonah Davis who you may know from  synth-toting legends ‘Escapologists’ and his solo electronic project Stone 3.  Nick has recently produced his first solo acoustic album and we’re excited to hear what he’s come up with.

International Giraffe-making competition, Great Live Music, Lovely dinner and drinks in a nice cafe.

YOU’VE NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD!

See you there,

Joey

Can you make this out of googly eyes and egg boxes?

Dear Diary,

I am really looking forward to our next big Jumpers for Goalposts party on the 15th July. We’ve got a really interesting act lined up to play live and I can’t wait to see how he goes down. His name’s Jake Bugg. Good name, right?

Anyway, that’s not why I’m writing here today, diary, I’m writing because it seems such a shame that the creative energy poured into Jumpers’ craft competition each month has no outlet; it just shines brightly, briefly and then that lovely light goes out. So, diary, I thought maybe we could celebrate it here and be like curators… in…
